The crew, myself Paul Baillie, 48 years old, too much fun and too many parties and I feel the wrong side of fifty, every bone in my body aches, thank god we have a self furling mainsail. Spent my working life in the ragtrade, set up and ran a clothing store for 10 years, sold it for a few bucks. Had a hip replacement at 46 and suddenly realised that we all have an expiry date.

With the above in mind I decided to take my compact family and leave the "big bad world" with all its financial woes behind. I'll worry about the superannuation thing and money when we get back or perhaps we just won't come back, who knows.

I'm Joyce Baillie, 37 and love looking after my wonderful husband and beautiful little girl. I am always willing to give things a shot but often my enthusiasm can exceed my courage (especially when it comes to going up the mast, I haven't made it past the first spreader yet and Paul has been to the top!). I am a little nervous about the ocean crossings ahead but I'm loving living the dream, the simple life and the freedom it brings. So far the sailing is awesome, the night sailing just surreal and the people we have met so incredibly friendly.

I'm Darien 3 and a 1/2 years old and I just want to say that this whole "living the dream" thing was not my idea! I was perfectly happy at the house with my own air conditioned bedroom, all my toys, my cousins close by. Now I find myself onboard with only a small cupboard full of toys and a toilet you have to pump to flush. We better be going somewhere cool where there are no Wiggles.

Its ok my aunty Tracey is coming to rescue me, she will be here soon. We are going to pick her up at the airport.
